Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is for anyone who wants to deepen their understanding of street photography and sharpen their visualisation skills.

Workshop outline

We start the morning with introductions and a review of your previous work.

We then look at examples of good (and bad!) street photography and discuss various styles and approaches. We use our images and the work of other photographers to provide context and inspiration and to get you thinking about some goals for the workshop and beyond.

After a quick technical check-in we head out to make photographs. We'll be shooting alongside you, offering tips and suggestions. You'll also get to see how each of us approach working on the street.

After lunch together we'll continue shooting. During the afternoon session you'll be working on assignments or practicing techniques and approaches that are linked to the goals you identified earlier in the day. We tailor the assignments to suit your level of experience.

To get the most out of the day (and the light!) we'll finish shooting around sunset, and after a quick review of the day you are invited to join us for a drink where we can continue talking about street!

Essentials

Meeting place and shooting locations

Our shooting locations are chosen for the opportunities they provide for street photography. We take into account easy access by public transport, seasonal factors (weather and light) and whatever events might be happening on the day.

We meet at a location in the heart of town that's easy to get to. We'll confirm our shooting location(s) a week or two before the workshop date.

What you'll need to bring

  • A digital camera that you already know how to use
  • A wide-angle lens (or a zoom that has a wide angle setting)
  • A laptop with Lightroom (or your preferred photo management and editing software)  already installed - day two only.
  • Plenty of space on one or two memory cards and a few fully charged batteries.
  • Comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, water bottle.

The workshop fee covers tuition, guidance and feedback during the workshop. All other costs (transport, food and drinks) are your responsibility.
