About this workshop

Our half day (4.5 hour) workshops are suitable for experienced street photographers as well as those who have only recently started making photographs on the street.

The workshops include:

  • A discussion about good (and bad!) street photography and and a look at various styles and approaches, illustrated with examples of our work and the work of other photographers.
  • One-on-one and small group shooting sessions, working on assignments that focus on particular ideas, themes or skills, all tailored to different levels of experience.
  • Tips for working more confidently on the street.
  • Opportunities to observe our different working styles as we make photographs alongside you.
  • Basic technical advice to simplify the process of making great photographs.

We finish the workshop at a cafe or local bar where we review the session, hang out and talk street!

Meeting place and shooting locations

Our shooting locations are chosen for the opportunities they provide for street photography. We take into account access to public transport, seasonal factors (weather and light) and whatever events might be happening on the day.

For our 13 October 2018 workshop we plan to again visit Cabramatta, a vibrant and fascinating area of western Sydney. We'll be shooting in the busy market area and on the bustling streets.

  • A digital camera that you already know how to use
  • A wide-angle lens (or a zoom that has a wide angle setting)
  • Plenty of space on a memory card and a few fully charged batteries
  • Comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, water bottle

The workshop fee covers tuition, guidance and post-workshop feedback. All other costs (transport, food and drinks) are your responsibility.

  • We take all reasonable care in the conduct of the workshops that we teach, but education sessions conducted in public places can involve risk of personal injury.
  • You are responsible for ensuring that you are physically and mentally fit for the workshop and must at all times take care of your own personal safety.
  • We will accept no responsibility for injury or loss caused to you during the workshop. We will not be liable for any other fate that befalls you.

If bad weather is forecast we may have to postpone the workshop. We usually wait until the Thursday of that week before making a decision.

  • if we have to postpone the workshop for any reason you’ll have your payment credited towards another workshop or refunded, at your discretion.
  • If you can’t attend the workshop for any reason and give us at least 5 days notice, we will credit your payment towards another workshop, or refund your fee, at our discretion.
